NATIONAL GRID PLANNED POWER OUTAGE – January 6, 2024

UPDATE:  More information can be found here.

IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE: NATIONAL GRID PLANNED POWER OUTAGE – JANUARY 6, 2024 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Residents and Business Owners within the Village of Honeoye Falls and Town of Mendon.
This announcement is important, and your help is requested in passing this along to your neighbors and business owners.
A major power line replacement project will be conducted by NationalGrid on Saturday, January 6, 2024, beginning at 7:30 AM and lasting until 4:30 PM. This will include the necessary shut-down of electrical power to approximately 7200 addresses within an area serviced by NationalGrid including close to 2900 addresses within the Village of Honeoye Falls and Town of Mendon. (Other areas to be affected are specific locations within the Towns of Rush, Bloomfield, W. Bloomfield, Town/Village of Lima, Town of Avon, Town of Livonia, and Town of Caledonia.)
During routine maintenance inspections, NationalGrid has found two aged line structures that must be replaced as there is great concern that they may not withstand a major weather event. In a situation where these structures failed, the area could be without power for upwards of 48 hours. While the timing for a project such as this is never good, taking a proactive approach now is the best option.
It is important for those with special power needs, i.e., Medical or Oxygen feeding units, or simply those that may be impacted greater than others by colder temperatures to prepare for their electrical power to be out for this time.
NationalGrid has been working to communicate with many of our businesses, banks, and facilities that house individuals with special needs. Residents who will be affected should also be receiving notices over the next few days, but we are confident that some will either be missed or will not review the notice received.
Please be prepared to be without electrical power on that day, please prepare now to shelter elsewhere if necessary. Or simply prepare your home as best as possible. Please reach out to those you may feel are vulnerable to this situation and assist where possible.
In the Village of Honeoye Falls, the Honeoye Falls Mendon Ambulance facility will be used as a warming station for those in need. The address for this facility is 210 East Street, Honeoye Falls, NY 14472. The warming center will be open from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (1/6/24). Additional sites will be considered as needed.
In the Town of Mendon, the Mendon Fire District will also open its facility at 101 Mendon Ionia Road (Route 64), Mendon, New York 14506 from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Please reach out to us if you need further information on warming sites or have any concerns.
More information and NationalGrid media blasts will also be forthcoming. RG&E (Rochester Gas and Electric Customers are not affected by this outage)
